I am soooo excited to share a scrap page with you. Finally! I got paper crafty Friday night with my super kewl friend Tina. We went to Archivers for a while then went
for Happy Hour at Stoney River. HOly Wow!! crafting and Stoney River in one night!
Total Happiness.
So this little cutie pie is my baby girl. Who Just turned 13 last week. This shot was done for her dance studio. I LOVE this pic. Love the flower in her hair and love the pop of color with the itty bitty chair. I bought the paper kit from a daily scrap deal. It is from House of 3. I think it went so well with the picture and another that I will share soon.

The House That Creaks #10 Striped Walls

Happy Sunday Evening to you!
I finally completed a project!! It has been probably early December since I have started and completed a house project. So lately I have been seeing striped walls everywhere in blog land.
Thursday afternoon I had an overwhelming urge to paint stripes in my upstairs landing. I had originally wanted to put up bead board however I have bead board in the bathroom and thought that it would be too much in one area then.. BAM! it hit me and I went running. I already had most of the tools on hand so this did not cost much at all. A BIG PLUS!

I forgot to get a before shot but this is pretty much it minus the renovated toy box and the framed wall art I made a little while back.

Yellow is a hard color to cover so I started with 2 coats of a good Primer. Zinzer 123. Used my trusty Purdy angled tip brush and a Purdy roller. (I Heart Purdy)

After gathering all of the supplies the next step is to measure. This is where my hubby came in handy. (Wish I would have given more effort to math in school). He helped me figure out what size stripes I would need to make them as even as possible. I didn't really care how many stripes but new I wanted them fairly large. I did 15 1/2 inch stripes for a total of 6 on a 93 inch wall.

I taped the measuring tape to the wall then made my marks all around the hallway.

I totally need to talk my daughter into taking her posters off her bedroom door. Good luck with that though. She just turned 13 yesterday (Happy bday boo!). I remember when I was 13, I had posters, magazine pages, all kinds of stuff on my walls.

I left the yellow color and just painted a white strip. I still love this orangy yellow color. It is called Spun Gold by Porter Paints.

I have to say, I am quite impressed with myself. The lines are super straight and there was almost zero bleeding under the tape. I used FROG tape. Once i had it on the wall I used the back of my finger nail to really get it stuck on there. Worked AWESOME! My finger was a wee bit sore though! HA

That white spot in the upper right is not really there. Not sure why my camera did that.

It is really hard to get a great pic in a super small sort-of circular area. I LOVE how it turned out. Hubs is not a fan but thinks I did a great job on it. It reminds me of summer time. Maybe it is the yellow and white? Thanks for checking out the project!!

Scrabble Art

Hello everyone. I wanted to share with you a
Christmas gift I made for my mother-in-law. She LOVES to play scrabble and she LOVES the beach. She and my father-in-law go 2-3 times a year.
I saw this idea on Pintrest and knew I had to try to make it. I saw one online that spells love you but the thing cost $60.00 Holy Smokes!
I bought a square shadow box frame at Joann for 50% off so $12.00. I wanted the mat professionally cut so it had the beveled edge on the inside. Joann was going to cost a minimum of $20.00... nope.. Joann recommended checking out Hobby Lobby because they do their own cuts there. Joann has their Atlanta store cut it then send mail it back.
Hobby Lobby cut it in just a couple of minutes and for only $6.00. Yippeee.. We had the scrabble pieces already, I had the mod podge and base cardboard so the project cost me $18.00 verses $60.00 online! AND the lady that cut the mat was inspired to make her own!

Simple Gift Wrapping

Good Morning!! And what a great morning it is! I am off from work the rest of this week! wooooohhoooooo!!

I am planning on spending time with my favorite girl and shopping and playing and hanging out. I have a DIY project planned too.

I saw this gift wrapping idea on Pintrest. Love that place!

Such a simple idea with a brown lunch sack. I would have liked to make the tag but dang... I just dont seem to have time for paper crafting lately. So these are gift tags I bought at Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago. And the string is twine from PaperTrey Ink. I used the Fiskars boarder punch to add a wee bit of design, then wrapped the twine around and threaded the tag, tied a bow and called it a wrap! FUN. The super simple gift inside is for co workers which consists of two small bags of flavored coffee (each bag makes one pot) and several individual creamer cups.
The total for 3 gifts was $2.66 each. not too shabby!!

Me and Grace

Happy Sunday Everyone!!
So last night my sister and I took our girls to go see A Christmas Story at TPAC (Tennessee Performing Arts Center). What a fun play that was.
It wasn't a huge Broadway style play. Just a sweet and cozy audience interactive live play.
We ended the evening with dinner. We wanted to walk to a nearby restaurant while we were in the middle of downtown Nashville but it was too late and cold so we ended up at Waffle House! HA!! It was a great time though. Here are pics of me and Grace before we headed out. Enjoy your week as we count down to Christmas!!

The House That Creaks #9 KITCHEN CABINETS!!

Hot Dang the cabinets are D.O.N.E.
Wow what a project that turned out to be. I really did enjoy the process, however it took 3 weeks to finish and towards the end I was getting pretty antsy. Working full time and busy weekends doesn't allow much time for this type of project.

I decided to break it down in sections. I have a pretty large kitchen with 26 cabinets and 16 drawers. It is very fortunate to have that many EXCEPT when you are painting them. I had 5 sections and the process was simple but effective: 1. Degrease using mineral spirits 2. Wash with Dawn dish detergent 3. Fill in the extra hole on the handle with wood filler (decided to go with a knob instead of handle) 4. Sand using "liquid sand" (soooo glad I went this way instead of sanding with sandpaper. 5. Prim 6. Paint two coats

The wood filler worked great. I just love that product. The only bad part is having to wait around 8 hours for the filler to harden.

Here is how it looked while priming. Once the paint was on you could not tell one bit that a hole was there once upon a time.

Here is the kitchen I lived in for about a year. I did not move into this. I painted it orange on purpose. I LOVE color. My last house was ALL brown and beige and I was craving some fun VIBRANT colors!

Here is my scrapping/crafting area. It was one thing I was thankful for when we moved in. Last house my craft room was off by itself so I did not have much contact with the family, this way I am still in the middle of everything (my favorite place to be, in the middle). Notice the Island, before I painted it.

Here the door out to the deck is still white and the table is still a honey color wood. It looked horrible against the orange walls.

OH SNAP! check out the scrap area before we moved in. The paint job was hideous and the Formica counter tops were wearing out.

Anyone care to ballroom dance? We were so amazed at the size of the kitchen. Our last house was a super small galley kitchen probably about 6 X 10 feet.

I decided to paint the walls to. I just felt the need to tone down the orange a wee bit. If I'm going to do it, I am going big or going home baby, just couldn't stop at the cabinets, it all needed a make over well okay.. mostly now that the cabinets were a creamy white the orange really clashed with that AND the back splash. I DO plan on a new back splash but. that must remain at the bottom of the to do/wish list for now.

I know I need curtains or roman shades in the window. I will work on that soon enough. That window faces nothing but trees and is two stories up so right now I am not concerned about peeping toms. AH the floor.. YES. one day I do plan on replacing it too. Another reason I had to go beige on the walls. Nothing else seemed to blend very well with the floor and back splash.

Here is how the table turned out. I planned on staining the top black but my hottie hubs talked me out of it. So we went all natural with just the legs painted.

SWOON!! This pic takes my breath away! seriously! Can you see where the other hole was from the handles before? nope! you cant. I have to tell you the real secret was the paint. Sherwin Williams Waterborne Acrylic Paint. OMG. THE. BEST. PAINT. It is pretty expensive so I would not use it to paint walls but DEFINITELY dressers, desks, cabinets etc. The next most important item to have is a great brush. Purdy is the best in my opinion. The bristles do not come out while your painting. You can wash them over and over and use them for years. Literally. I have!

This was the original chandelier I decided on. Ummmmm.. okay so it did not look like the picture online and the quality was less than satisfactory. you cannot tell from the pic but that thing was HUGE I mean really huge! We got a good laugh and sent it back. I hate sending things back when purchased online. Hubs has banned me from buying things online anymore. LOL lately I have been 0 for 3!

Grace's Baptism

Can a mother possibly explain the emotions she feels as she watches her young daughter
show the world that she has given her life to Christ?
I squalled as I saw the look on her face here, on the verge of tears from the joy in her heart.

Such sweetness as she immersed in the baptismal waters.

Cold and wet and full of joy. Her family was there to witness it all. We all cried. It certainly did not help any that they played Amazing Grace during the baptisms. I cry EVERY. SINGLE. TIME I hear that song. (sorry for the blurry picture) I was more worried about watching than getting a great pic.

Today was the first day for baptisms in the new church building. We had 23 I believe. Over all 3 services. It was a wonderful day. God is Good!

The House That Creaks # 8 Refurbished Toy Box

Hello!!! Happy Thursday to you. Thanks for stopping by. In case you have not read my first "House that creaks" episode. I call it that because some areas of the floors in this 20 year old house creak like no body's business! I totally want to fix it but secretly dont want to also because in just a couple of short years my daughter will be a teenager and possibly sneaking out of the house ! HA With these floors she will get caught for sure. Okay anywhoooo.......

I have had this toy box since I was oh.. 9 years old maybe?? It was up in the attic for a long time, then when my daughter was a wee one we got it down for her. Now she doesn't need it anymore. My first initial thought was to make a cushioned seat cover and I did that, but once I finally got the box looking like i wanted to, the material clashed.

Obviously my name was carved in it. If I was not going to have a seat cushion then I needed my name covered up. Got out the handy dandy wood filler. LOVE that stuff, it has been a big helper in quite a few projects. So filled in my name and sanded down the entire box. Primed it and Spray painted it gray. I looked like a big glob. I hated it. It was just missing something. I wandered around blog land. One girl (wish I would have kept her link) had the stencil pattern that I had already printed out from Emily at Jones Design Company.
she had used her stencil on a box and I squealed with delight! I just new I had to use the stencil on my toy box.

I am soooo in love with how it turned out. This is no longer an ugly grey glob. It is a deliciously fun refurbished piece!! YEA ME! oh, and the design is on both sides as well.
I have it sitting on the upstairs landing. I totally hate that lamp. I will be switched out.. eventually. Hopefully sooner than later. Last night i just finished that frame. I really need to hang it a little lower and post about it so, don't look at it yet! teehee

My 80's Prom Queen!

This was Grace on Halloween. I will hopefully get a better picture soon. She and my niece found my and my sisters prom dresses. So what better halloween costume than an ugly shiny ruffly 1980's prom dress???? how scary is THAT!! LOL

What really is the scarriest part is that Grace looks almost identical to me when I was that age. Holy Cow, it was crazy.. even her dad was like WHOA!!!

The House that Creaks #8 Faux Wainscoting

Happy Sunday Night to you! So, I have this project to share that I totally stole from Decor Chick can I just add how much I heart her style. I get TONS of Ideas from her. Click on her name and it will take you to her wainscoting transformation. Her has decorative trim which i would have loved to use however, hottie hubs and I are brand new to wainscoting and wasnt sure we could match up all of the lines with the cuts from the tools that we had. So we settled on some flat trim. and now if we change our mind later and use a more decorative trim, the process will be soooooo much easier.
So I started with priming the area I wanted to wainscot. Hubs made fun of me because I did not measure precisely where to end the white paint. I giggled told him whatever.. to my dismay because we are out of the orange paint that is on the walls! and of course the chair railing was below the white. I cannot get a stinkin' sample of orange paint mixed that matches exactly! Arrg

okay so the next steps where to measure, measure and measure again. I left that part to hottie. I have zero math skills and this was hard core crazy calculations. Well, for me anyway. Hubs has way more patients than I. I am totally kewl with slapping it up on the wall, thank goodness he is not cool like that :-)
Then we got out the chalk line marker thing. You know, the tool that kinda looks like a measuring tape that you pull out and then hold it in place then snap the line and it makes a chalk mark on your surface? Yea, that one..

Next step is to cut out all of your box pieces. We used little glue dots (my scrap booking supplies always come in handy!!) to hold the pieces in place to make sure that is where we wanted them before we started nailing it all in. After that caulk around all the trim and chair rail. Paint a couple of coats and you are done.

And here is the view going down. I reeeeaaaaallly need to work on my picture taking skills and learn to edit. Hubs work is so much better in person. I look at it all the time and I am amazed at his success at his first go at this! Now.. this project to way longer than we anticipated but totally worth the effort. Especially since he did most of the work! HA!!

Then here is a pic after I painted over the white above the chair rail. You cannot really tell in this pic that the oranges dont match. in all honesty it is very close to the original orange so its not bad. I would love to repaint all of the orange a different color! Hubs says I have to wait for a total of 5 years before repainting. teehee.. only because the staircase and living room where a MAJOR pain in the buttocks to paint. I have researched painting kitchen cabinets and ended up buying this: Sherwin Williams Waterborne Pro Classic in Latex

Here is the color: Dover White in Satin finish

Hard to see, I know. It's a beautiful creamy white.

Also bought a new one of these

BEST. BRUSHES. EVER. !!

I usually do not buy my paint until I will be using it, but today was the last day for Sherwin Williams 40% off sale!! Yippee, so for a $50.00 gallon can of paint I just HAD to take advantage of the sale. Plus I had a $10.00 coupon!! So I got the paint, Purdy brush, Purdy roller refill, and a small paint tray with Tennessee sales tax of 9.25%!!! for a grand total of $48.62. Awesome Possum eh?

Hopefully I will be starting VERY soon!!

The House that Creaks # 7 Temporary T.V. Stand

Hey guys!! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have several projects going on at one time. Why do I do that? Why can I not finish one before starting another? Arrrggg..

I i bought this little T.V. stand on craig's list a while back for $20.00. It is not what I want long term but I was using a really big coffee table as a corner stand. I was just taking up too much room. Because our living room is narrow the table was to big to use as its intended purpose.

Here it was before. very shiny veneer.

She had some really big decorative plate and handle. I just wanted small knobs so I used wood filler to fill in two of the holes just keeping one hole for the new knob. Instead of sanding I decided to use liquid sand partly as an experiment to see how well it does before I use it for the kitchen cabinets. I really like that product and will probably use it for the cabinets. that will save A LOT OF TIME when painting 26 cabinets and 15 drawers!!

I primed it with tinted primer.

I used some black foam board in the very back because it was just an open square. That worked out really great!! happy face!

I painted with a brush instead of rolling. Another experiment before the kitchen cabinets!! Jury is still out on that one. I wish I would have turned the T.V. off before I took the pics, oh well... does anyone else watch HGTV non stop? anyone?.. I'm the only one huh? LOVE MY HGTV!!

Another close up. So that is it. Temporary T.V. stand. I have now decided I do not want a corner stand as originally planed. thank goodness I got a temporary one before committing on a brand new piece. I have an old dresser at my dads that I MIGHT work on to use as our new TV credenza. Not sure, want to get the cabinets done first.

The House That Creeks #6 CURTAINS!

Holy Crap People!!!! They are FINALLY finished!
These curtains nearly broke my back, I swear! Probably would not have been so bad had I had a proper place to work. The floor was the only obvious place to work because of the space but dang! it was tough. HOWEVER worth every bit of it!

I put off getting curtains for quite a while. Around blog land I have found bold stripes popping up everywhere. The first place that caught my eye was a shower curtain from Welcome to Heardmont see her's HERE awesome I tell you! So I had planned on painting but THEN I found THIS at The Yellow Cape Cod. holy schmoly! I fell in L.O.V.E

So I ordered some awesome priced fabulous sailcloth curtains from Curtain Works HERE
then I bought some linen fabric from Joann and ordered a 50 yard roll of grosgrain ribbon online. THANK GOODNESS my hubby was sitting there when I re figured how much ribbon I needed.
I ALMOST ordered 120 YARDS of ribbon when I only needed around 40 yards. bwwaaahhaa. I was forgetting to divide my feet by 3 to get the correct yardage! Math has never been my strong suit anyway. I ironed on fusible webbing to the black linen then iron those pieces to the curtains. For the ribbon I just used my handy dandy hot glue gun. I have burns to prove it too!

Here she is all finished! GASP... I KNOW RIGHT!!! swoon!!! Please ignore the paper above the chair.. that is my template for what I may hang there one day. not sure yet.

Here is a view with the template removed.. It was about time to remove it. I was starting to not even realize it was there anymore.

Here is a view from the other side. The sun sure is bright in the morning. The T.V. stand is temporary. I have that to share one day too.

Here is a view with a wee bit of the fire place showing. the room is 24 feet long and only 13 feet wide so it is really difficult to get the whole room in one photo

The curtain rod looks a little higher on the right side but it isn't.. well not as much as it looks in the photo. So thats it.. awesome striped curtains! I am soooo making some for my bedroom however I have decided that I will be painting those!!!

Happy Tuesday!!
Hope your day has been awesome. Today i am sharing a scrap page I made on my little weekend getaway back in March! This is my daughter and her duo partner from their dance in season 2010. I absolutely LOVED this dance. I was very musical theater think Broadway musical. So fun, ever time i watched it I got a little sad thinking one day she will leave me to move to New York and dance on Broadway. Silly really she would LOVE that, I am just being selfish! The Paper is Glitzy Pack I picked up at Hobby Lobby one day, I totally adore ever single sheet in it. So shabby chic. I used the cricut to cut out the label i used to journal and some rhinestones. Thats it all the little paper strips are from the same pack. I have to admit I got this layout from one of my scrappy mags. Dont remember which one since it was so long ago. The House That Creaks # 5 Stained Cabinets

Okay.. I finished these a while ago but, I just got around to getting new hardware so now I feel like I can share :-)

Do these cabinets look familiar? They are the same cabinets all over the house! Kitchen and both bathrooms. I am positive if I had another room that called for cabinets, these would be in there for sure. As like everything else in the house, I got tired of looking at them.

I wanted these dark but not black like I painted in daughters bathroom. I did not want to paint them brown.. for some reason I am not that fond of brown paint. I like white and black and orange and blue.. just not brown. So I decided to stain them brown.

HOLY COW !! I do not like to stain. What a big fat pain in the rump! To stain you totally have to get rid of any previous paint. I sanded the cabinets and base all the way down (fortunately there was only one layer of paint and one or two poly)

I had to apply 3 layers to the cabinets and to the base to get as dark as I wanted.

Thank goodness I went with the gel stain. Per the info on the container, the gel stain is thick (think pudding consistency) and it covers better over any missed removed paint and such (i had quite a bit).

The problem with stain is to let it dry completely before re applying the next coat. The wait time is 8 hours!! again I did 3 coats. so this took several days, can't just roll it on and wait a wee bit.

** please don't pay any attention to the fabulous quilt / curtains ** I WILL get around to those

You have to wipe or brush some on, a little at a time, wipe it off and repeat. AGONY for a person like me with VERY little patience. Soon enough i will be working on painting the walls a super pretty color.

Anyway here is the new hardware, hard to see the copper in it. Just like the faucets. I originally had some creamy white knobs (you know, to match the counter top) .. hubby walked in and screamed (not like a girl, but like a low manly UGG kinda scream.) LOL

This pic is a wee bit dark. Just depends on how much light is coming through the window. SO, there you have it.. stained cabinets. WHEW! glad that is O.V.E.R.

Hope that everyone is well. I am so sorry i have posted anything in a while. The saying Lazy days of summer is bologna!! busy busy busy...

I have some things to share, i just have to get it uploaded. Headed for holiday world tomorrow! woooohoooooo. GOT TO GET DRAMAMINE !!!! keep forgetting that.. I WILL NOT be able to ride any rides with out it.

Anywho... here are a couple of pics of my daughter and some of her dance team. In the team photo she is the first one on the left. We had an awesome time taking these. The background is amazing. The House That Creaks # 4 Crappy Credenza!!

"Oh. My. God.. Becky.. look at this dresser" said in my best Sir Mix-A lot Baby Got Back voice! teehee.. Seriously look at it's hideousness! Let me tell you though I was THRILLED to get it off of Craig's List. I certainly would not say it was a steal but I am at peace now for spending $45.00 for it.

The drawers did not line up.. so i tried different drawers in different slots and they magically lined up much better.

She had a nasty gash in the back. Poor thing, seems she has suffered over the years. She had a few spots in the front. I also had to re-glue some places inside and out.

Fixed her right up with some wood putty!! This took about 4 days. Because it was such a large gash. I put some putty on, let that dry.. sand, layer on some more, let that dry, sand. repeat until it is a smooth even finish.

Then I primed it. I have wanted to distress a piece, so I finally took the plunge well, dip really.. and gave it my first go. I wanted some yellow to show through the distressing instead of the brown wood. So on top of the prim I painted some yellow I had on hand and just put it where I wanted it to show. In hind sight I probably should have painted the whole piece yellow, just in case some day I want to distress it more. Note to self for future reference!

Here are all the pieces primed. I decided to do this inside 'cuz it is DANG HOT here in Tennessee and muggy and sticky, thick, humid.. you get the picture.

Here is a shot of the gash all patched up. It is more noticeable in the pic than in real life.

Oh, and here is my new best friend! I just adore her. Hubby was quite amazed also. Not too distressed and not so all black either. Not sure how I want to dress her yet. That will come with more thrifting though. For now I have decided to keep the same hardware. I like the vintage look of it right now. My sweet dear friend Tina finally had baby #3 last week. Yea!! Baby and Momma are doing great although momma had quite a scare and had to go back in the hospital for a couple of days. Thank the Lord above she is fine and dandy now!!
Well, when one of your besties has a baby you gotta make her something right?

I have made baby burp cloths a few times but, I decided to make these bigger. They are more simple than my previous burp cloths however, these can hold more spit up and cover momma well! I used fabric and terry cloth.

I just love that little star. I cut it out and ironed on fusible fabric backing to the star then ironed on the star to the onesie. I did pre-wash the fabric and the onsies.

Here i cut out fabric and felt to make a little lollipop flower. I decided not to use a broach pin to secure the flower because I did not the wee one to get stuck with the pin!

But I did want the flower to be removable so momma could wash it so I decided to use Velcro tabs! yea! I only had black ones on hand. I finally decided that was okay since it will be covered up anyway right?!

The Velcro was already sticky on both sides but I worried about it coming off during the wash or anytime. So here I added some fabric glue and a small clamp to keep it smooshed while the fabric glue dried. This should do the trick!

I had some fabric flowers already prepared just waiting for a project to land on like a scrapbook page or a card or a hair bow or... a baby onesie!! used the same Velcro adhesion here too.
So there you go, simple and sweet baby gift for a dear friend. I am going to visit the wee one as soon as i get back from vacation and kiss those sweet puffy cheeks!!

Well Hello There!!

I actually got crafty with some paper last month. It felt great.. it has been a little while since i have scrapped or made a card. My daughters dance recital was at the end of May and I was asked to make the coaches the thank you cards.

I totally lifted these from Nichole Heady with Papertrey Ink. I had to do them super quick so i stole her layout. The diamond was used because her coaches are opening a new studio called Diamond Academy of Dance. The colors here will be the new colors of the studio also.

I used the Hannah Montana Cricut Cart for the diamond image. Close to my heart stamps to stamp the images on the paper. The paper used is Stampin up and Papertey Ink. The thanks sentiment was also cut out with the cricut, I believe I used Cricut Sampler Cart.

The House That Creaks #3 The Kitchen Island

hi there. welcome to my 3rd project in this noisy squeaky house!!
I bought this kitchen island from a yard sale for $45.00 !! woohooo. I thought it was a great price for such a sturdy piece. We did add the granite piece on top when we had the granite counter tops installed. but that was all until i decided i needed to be BLACK.. The whole time I was painting it i was singing the Rolling Stones song "Paint it Black" tee hee

I loved that i just fit so perfectly into the kitchen. I felt pretty lucky to find a piece at a great price and fit in so perfect.
Here she is all beautiful and black. OH, I think I forgot to mention that I SPRAY PAINTED the entire piece. I have seen blogs that had BEAUTIFUL projects using spray paint. I totally thought to myself NO WAY!!! spray paint is streaky.
Being the big brave dog that I am I just had to see for myself. I told my self that if it did not work out the I will just roll paint over it.

I also bought so new cool hardware. However TOTALLY spaced on the hinges! I will get around to that... eventually. I have a credenza I want to do THEN... the kitchen cabinets (gasp!) I believe I am going to have to do the cabinets in sections. It is a pretty big kitchen (not complaining). I had planned on rolling on the paint for the cabinets but I believe I have made up my mind to spray paint those as well!! oooo... i am gettin CRAZY these days!

The House That Creaks #2 Daughters Bathroom

Wowza.. it has been a minute or two since I have last posted. Honestly I have been ridiculously busy. A good busy for the most part, being a large part of doing things that I WANT to do. I believe I have finally finished the hall bathroom aka daughters bathroom that husband is trying to take over. LOL she likes to call this her bathroom but for some reason she uses our master bath most of the time?!

So here are a few before pics. Pretty darn BLAH!! No wonder daughter wanted to use our bathroom!

However she did have the fabulous zebra shower curtain to match her bedroom..Teehee

The wall color looks better in the pics than in real life, and the walls were pretty beat up.

We started with painting the cabinets and adding fresh hardware. I have really developed a love relationship with painting lately!

SO NOW.. the big whoop. I added this beadboard wallpaper. Its by Graham and Brown and was sooo easy to use. I NEVER in my life have wallpapered before. I first learnd of this magical stuff from Rhodas blog Southern Hospitality. I am so thankfully to have found her blog.
I CANNOT wait to put this stuff up in other areas of the house. I do have to tell you though, for your first time. I DO NOT recommend doing the bathroom. Getting around the toilet was a pain in the rump. But so glad I kept trucking on.

This pic shows you how forgiving this stuff can be. I somehow had a major gap in my seams... well, i think it had to do with my trimming also but anywho. I broke out some Spackle ...

Here in this pic.. you cannot hardly tell at all RIGHT???!!

Then after you paint over it.. Viola' it has almost disappeared right before my eyes!

I decided (to my husbands protests) to go all the way to the top with the wallpaper. My #1 reason is because her walls were pretty beat up and this covered all that mess so nicely. I also went further and added crown moulding.. well, this is where hubby had to tell me.
I painted it though! Here is a pic before I caulked the gap to the ceiling.
We decided to buy the corner pieces so hubs wouldn't go insane trying to miter cut the corners. I know I would have a hard time so I let him do his thang his way! ya know?

Here is a close up of the paper after it has had two coats of Porter Paint Lilac Grey. I SWEAR every person that sees this stuff on the wall is so surprised that its wallpaper. I doesn't look like it at all and to really make it more life like its a little "puffy" so it looks more like wood than just a flat, thin sheet of wallpaper.

Here she is all complete. It is really tough to get a good pic of such a tiny bathroom. I do plan on getting a different bath rug but haven't seen one that grabs me yet. so for now we are sticking with daughters hot pink rugs and zebra striped shower curtain.

Evening!!!
So this little beauty is my BFF's daughter Kayla. She is GORGEOUS! and she is sooooooooo sweet. I just love her. I copied this layout idea from one of my scrapbook mags. Cannot for the life of me remember which one. I cut out the scallop frame and circles with my handy dandy Cricut. I believe the scallop from is from Story Book Cart. the little rhinestone butterfly i think may be KI Memories. I held on to that little jewel FOREVER just waiting for the right page for it to land on. The rhinestone flourish is Prima! LOVE!!! and her name was made with Rubons. The gorgeous paper is Taj Mahal from DCWV.

I am still doing house projects. And loving it. I am still working on my daughters bathroom. I am very excited to show pics when done!!!

The House That Creaks Story #1 Bathroom Cabinet

Hi Everyone!!!
I hope you had a fantastic Easter yesterday!!
So, If you have been following me at all for the past year, you know that we moved into a new (new to us) house last February. This house creaks, holy cow every floor in every room! Its crazy. I mean the house is 20 years old but goodness. OH MY we have done A LOT of work on this house. Big projects like a new roof, new driveway, re-configured the basement a wee bit. But some of the fun stuff is painting and such. I posted a while back my orange kitchen while that does look a lot better I am ready to move on to the next phase very soon. We have the whole house livable at this point so NOW I can really get crazy and try new things and tweak what we have already done. So First up was my daughters bathroom. I hated that room the most. The first pic is the bathroom AFTER we fixed it a wee bit. Not grand by any means but it was WAY better than before. I was not digging the boring beige -y cabinets. these are the same cabinets throughout the entire house. Anyway.. this is where i decided to start. SO i sanded and primed and painted it a gloss oil based black paint. I decided to go oil based in her bathroom because of the high humidity. I decided on shiny because I like the classy look of it in a small room. The I changed out the hardware to a more modern look staying with the shiny silver on the faucets and light fixture that Grace picked out. Overall I am very happy with the outcome. See in the last picture the tile floor? Imagine in all of the grout gross black nastiness. I scrubbed every single inch of that floor. things like that is why it has taken a year to really get into details. Well i have rambled on and on. OH, in the last pic check out the bathroom walls! HI YA!! Happy Wednesday! Yippee.. getting back on the computer! Still lost my Picasa album but hubs did manage to find some "my pictures" file. anywhooo... This is a scrap page of my niece Mia Love. The fun bright papers are DCWV Taj Mahal. Love that paper pack. the sentiment was cut with my trust Cricut. I borrowed my super cool friend Tina cricut cartridge Sweet Treats (what a GREAT cart) The purple and red felt flowers are American Crafts that I've had in my stash FOR-EV-AH!!! I wanted a tidbit o texture so i drew lines around each square. it would have been nice to sew around each one but a.) it was a scrappy weekend at the cabin so no sewing machine with me and b.) thats a lot of squares and drawing is much faster :-)
okay. i am getting some of my house projects completed. and i hope to share those very soon!!!

Computer Issues

sorry I haven't posted in a while. i have been working on some home decor projects and our computer had been running really slow. So hubby tries to fix it. He did finally fix it but it took the better part of a week. Then we had a big storm last week that took our computer out. Things are back on track now. I just have to find all the files with my pictures and get them reloaded so I can share again. Big frowny face!

Hidy Ho Fellow Crafters! Hope this Sunday Evening finds you well. I have been busy all week and all weekend with house projects. I got a wild hair and have decided to paint the cabinets. I have started with the island in the kitchen. After doing some research and decorating blogs I decided to spray paint it. Well the weather was gorgeous when the project started so i got it out into the garage and what do you know good ole unpredictable Tennessee weather went down hill. So now it has been stuck in the garage in pieces with nothing but primer on. AND taking up mine and hubby's parking space (he has been very nice about it, let me just add that in here!) SO... because once I get an idea in my head it is very hard to sit still. I was planning on waiting to see how that project went before I went on to the next but since it has been too cold and wet to spray paint, I started on daughters bathroom cabinets. sanded, primed and painted !! woo hoo.. it looks gorgeous laying in the hallway floor (the doors)I need them to cure for 24 hours before i hang the doors back on. ANYWAY...... Here is another scrap page from my scrappy weekend. This is my cousin Nina who graduated this past May. She is such a sweet, loving and beautiful girl! She is now attending MTSU on a softball scholarship. Man that girl can play some ball. ALL of it, basketball, softball, volleyball. She has ALWAYS been active in ball since she could walk. I swear. This is a super simple layout. Just her two of her senior pics and her graduation invitation. The only thing I added was the leaves which were cut using the Cricut and I don't know which cart but I thinking Storybook. I totally HEART that cart!! In the meantime I went ahead and got started on my bathroom cabinets.. just sanding the doors so far. I am staining those so i had to sand much more than I did daughers cabinets. so I will busy with those this week and hopefully the weather will cooperate so I can get the island done SOON! HI YA!!! Happy Saturday. Hope you are enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather today. So last weekend I went with the girls to Center Hill Lake and got a cabin for a scraptacular weekend. I have not scrapped in a while so it was realllllly nice to play. I got 14 pages done which I guess is pretty good. I would have liked to have gotten more done. This is a pic of my niece and grandbaby Logan. Logan LOVES to play on every one's cell phone, he could play with it for hours. Look at that little smile on his face. Hopefully my niece was watching him to make sure he did not make some crazy calls and rack up some charges!
I used some paper from CTMH and I cannot even remember what it is called. The title is 3 different type of letter stickers. Foam, Flock, and Felt. I swiped an ink pad on the cardstock to give it a wee bit of texture. Simple and Sweet. Well, I need to run for now, have a house full of people coming over tomorrow for daddy's birthday. So Proud of My Tiny Dancer

Hello and Happy Monday!!

I dont have any crafty goodness to share with you today. I do have some pics of my daughter's dance competition though. These pics were actually her last competition. I did not get any of the one we just had yesterday. This year is her first time doing a solo in competition. I have to say I absolutely LOVE it. It is fun and spunky and sassy! The dance is to Janice Joplin's Move Over.
I have always been a Janice Joplin fan so to get to watch my baby dance competitively to one of her song just makes it that much more fun. The middle pic is her trio (the other dancer is not in this particular pic) Grace is the one with her back to you. This dance is to a Rue Paul song called Looking Good and Feeling Gorgeous which is also so much fun.

We were in Alabama for the competition this weekend. Man it was a looooong one. We did not get home until Midnight then had to get up in 5 hours for school (Grace) and work (me and hubs) so worth it though. she has a blast and I am so proud to watch her. Anywho, I am running off this coming weekend to a scrapbook getaway with 12 other fun girls ... I can hardly wait.. So I HOPE to have lots to share with you next week. Thanks for the visit!!

Bird Cage

Good Monday Night to you!!!
Hope your night is toasty warm. We woke up to 70 degrees and quickly plummeted to like around 30 something by noon. Tennessee weather is soooooo crazy.
Anywho.. My mother's birthday is March 2nd and I needed a card for her. I actually whipped both of these up pretty quickly. I used my new April Showers Cricut cart for the bird cage. I just stinkin' LOVE it.. I am not sure of the maker of the two patterned papers. The company's name was already cut off. I had used these papers in some decor in the kitchen. The Happy Birthday is a set from PTI Birthday Basics as is the ribbon (Summer Sunrise) and the base cardstock (Smokey Grey). I am all over yellows and oranges these days. Gift Packaging

Hi All!!
Hope you are enjoying your evening. I am checking in to share how I wrapped up a gift I made for my sister. Next week she starts to work in the office that I work in! Yea, how fun is that?! We cannot work in the same department but we will still see each other. To celebrate her new career move I bought her a personalized lunch tote from ThirtyOne. Have you ever seen their things? OH SO CUTE. All of there bags, purses, totes etc.. I wish I would have taken a pic of the bag before I gave it to her. I did not have a bag the right size so I wrapped it with brown mailing paper just adorned it with a little handmade tag. I used a couple of Cricut Carts oh gosh, I think George Basics, Story Book and ??? The (white) circle did not cut a true circle, I was a little disappointed in that. The stamp set is PTI Around and About as well as the polka dot paper and ribbon. Thanks for coming to see me today! Have an awesome tomorrow!

Rock Star

Happy Thursday All!!!
wooo hooo!!! Tomorrow is FRI-DAY! yippeee.. So glad the weekend is almost here. Tomorrow evening I get to meet my girlfriends for dinner and maybe venture out to see a band play after that or just sit and chit chat. Then Saturday my daughter has her first dance competition of the season. So much fun. Then Sunday if I am not worn out we MAY do a little shopping. I havent been shopping for anything other than groceries since Christmas. Yikes! Ya know it is time to get my eyes checked. I need to try to fit that in also. Anyway.............. I colored this image quite a while back and found it recently. I think I did a pretty okay job so I decided to whip it into a card. The background paper is from Creative Memories and the stars and rock star cut out is from my favorite Cricut cart Rock Princess. After I already took the pictures I decided the word rock star is a little lost in the card so I swiped the edges with a white paint pen. It stands out much better now but lazy me did not feel like messing with taking another pic and editing and all of that so use your imagination please. LOL. Thanks a whole bunch for looking!!! Baby Logan's Valentine Day Card

Happy Snowy Day!
Dang it is CRAZY out tonight. This snow storm is crazy slick. It is taking people hours to get home. I am sooooo glad I left early today! Anywho ... I wanted to share a card I made for grandbaby for Valentines Day. Well he is 2 years old so I guess he is not a baby anymore. I used the Nifty Fifties Cricut Cart... LOVE!!! The paper is old school BasicGrey, gosh I guess 4 years old? I printed out the sentiment on the computer. This is from my FAVORITE BOOK I read to my daughter "Guess How Much I Love You". I wanted to cry every time I read it to her. Those sweet little star gems are from Jenni Bowlin that I picked up and one of her sales at a near by Hotel she has once a year. Cricut Car Happy Birthday

It has been a minute since I last posted. I had the brilliant idea to clean and polish the hardwood floors. It sooooo needed it. Actually, it wasn't that bad however, I still have the second floor landing and the stairs to go. I'm kinda dreading the stairs though. Anywho.. on to the card! Yeah! I made a card. I bought the Nifty Fifties Cricut Cart right after Christmas. It is soooo cute. I decided to make a man card because my dads birthday is coming up next month. I think he will like this one. The back ground paper is from Close to my Heart as well as the cardstock and stamp. Its a simple layout but a man doesn't want fru fru on his card huh? Pom Pom Necklace Rosette Style!!!

So you know I have been making some flowery goodness for the holidays. WELL, one idea REALLY caught my eye from Little Miss Momma Blog she has the cutest ideas and she is such a cutie herself! She had a tutorial for pom pom necklaces. Well, I also made some flower pins that I discovered from Jones Design Company Blog she is also a super cutie. I decided I would put the two together because I love that the flower pins look like little rosettes when you make them teeny tiny. GO check out both of these girls blogs you will be SOOOOO inspired to TRY something I guarantee it! I made the rosettes out of felt and got a cheapo chain necklace at Hobby Lobby. I CANNOT wait to do the flower bib necklace that Little Miss Momma has done!

Oh Sweet Goodness... My baby turns 12 today!!! WHAT ?!?!? Wow.. kids grow up so fast. You always hear that all you life but, you just don't get it until you have one of your own.

I have to say 12 things that Grace is :

8. talented in everything she tries

9. always amazes me how she keeps trying and keeps trying until she gets it. she has always been that way from the time she was a baby and could control her movements!

I got the Cricut Expression for Christmas and some SUPER fun new carts! I know it has already been out for a while and now they have come up with the Cricut Imagine. but you know, i am a little behind the times. It has been so much fun to play with. The little Cricut now seems sooo limiting.

Anywho. Here is one of the cards I made. The skull cherries are from Rock Princess cart and the stamp is from Creative Clear Stamps. I thought the sentiment is appropriately smarty pants for the skulls teehee. The card stock is PTI and Stampin' UP!

Flower Frenzy

Hair Bows and Broach galore. I have been a super busy bee. This is not all that I have made. I have not made a card in what feels like ages. I have been having lots of fun with felt and such though. I have made these as gifts and made some to sell at work. Made a pretty decent chunk of change with these little beauties. Lots of ladies getting some for their little girlie's. I found several tutorials on the net for all of these. I have some a little different in the works. Hopefully can get those posted before too long. I hope ALL of you have a wonderful Christmas!!

Dance Team Christmas gift

My My, how time flies... I have been crafty, I just haven't posted in a while. My computer has become so slow that it is just agonizing to upload pics, edit and post. Sorry, I will try to do better.
I love making Christmas gifts. This year, for my daughters dance team we decided to make flower hair barrettes in the teams colors. The colors are hot pink, black and zebra striped. FUN RIGHT!!! Grace and I have been making a lot of hair accessories and little flower pins. Actually I have gotten pretty crazy with it.

Anyway, We made pink hair barrettes for the dancers and zebra flower pins for the coaches. Not everyone is like me and is willing to be an adult and wear handmade flowers in their hair. For the buttons in the middle of the flower I covered each one with some zebra fabric and hot glue. I have fallen in LOVE with my hot glue gun again! Actually all of it is held together with hot glue.

Then you have to have pretty packaging right! Any crafter knows a great gift comes in fantastic packaging. We had to make 24 gift bags so we went the easy peasy route and used brown lunch sacks. We dressed them up with the team colors and team. The dance team is called Royalty Athletics hence the crown. Made those babies with my super duper trusty cricut. LOVE!!!

Baby Gift

Hi Guys!!!

So I know I have been super random with postings lately but, that dang living room took WAAAAYYYY longer than we planned. That's a story for another day.

Anyway, I have a friend about to have a baby girl. So I made her some of the burpies you have seen me post before but this time I wanted to get my craft on with my most favorite scrappy machine ever, the cricut of course.

I ironed on some adhesive fabric backing then cut out pieces with the cricut and the Rock Princess cart, ironed the pieces together then ironed it onto a baby onesie !

Loved how the turned out. cutting the fabric went okay with the cricut and it definitely helped ironing on the backing first as it made the fabric more sturdy. I wanted to do one more intricate but the pieces were too small to cut fabric with. The crown that says "I'm with the the band" is because baby's daddy is in a band. too cute.

I got four scrapbook pages done last night! it made me soooo happy to scrap. it feels like ages since i have played with paper like that. Hope to get more playing time soon. Okay, need to get ready for the Titans and Cowboys game. thanks for stopping by!

The Kitchen !

Hi y'all! Finally got some pictures of the updated kitchen. Thanks for looking. First off lets look at the Ubatuba (oo-ba-too-ba) granite! Thats the name of it! HEEHEE. Maybe I picked that one because of the funny name! It is black but when you get up close golds and oranges just shimmer like crazy! Since I had just painted the kitchen orange the specks worked perfectly. Then because of the gold in it too when I change wall colors just about anything can match. Mercy! i am sooo loving it!
Here is what it looked like before we moved in. From the picture you really cannot tell how horrible the paint job was. And you cannot tell how nasty filthy it was.
Here is the office area. Here you can kinda tell of the crappy paint job.
Baby look at you now! I debated about getting an island. I LOVED all the room but it was pretty much wasted space. So I found one at a yard sale for $45.00!!! woohoo. It was in great shape too and has two drawers and two doors. EXTRA STORAGE! We got crazy and decided to have a different stone on the island. We thought it may be too much black otherwise. I like the contrast and I love the way we had the ends shaped. You really cant tell in these pics. Maybe I'll get a close up for ya one day.
Here is looking from the stove area out towards the reading room. Dont look at the kitchen table though. I want to get something else but that is bottom of the list. I may paint the bottom part and the legs in black. I WILL get black chairs though, hopefully soon. Dont look out the window on the deck either, we have the old sink out there. It is porcelain so it is VERY heavy. Hubby needs a friend to come help him move it. And do you see the awesome paintings over the table? My friend at work PAINTED THEM FOR ME! How sweet and how talented is she!!!???
Here is the office which i have decided to make my scrap/stamp area. I have GOT to find some coverings for the two cabinets above the desk. I have already thought about cabinet doors but there is not enough room in the middle for two sets of hinges. Mom has offered to make me curtains but I dont think I really want curtains. I am considering rolling shades. Like matchstick or bamboo blinds? PLEASE give me any suggestions. Also the little square "plates" above the cabinets I made. I wanted something but not too much. I am really trying to have no clutter. I did not want to pay an arm and a leg for decor so I cut some thick foam board into 9x9 squares and mod podged pretty scrapbook paper. It turned out great and so easy to replace with different papers whenever I fell froggy!! So thats it thanks so much for taking the time to look!

can you smell that??? it's the weekend!! right around the corner, a long weekend at that, with the holiday on Monday! yipppeeee...
and did you see that? the first card. HA HA I put the card together backwards! HA HA! too funny. well, it is funny 'cause i was able to fix it easily! otherwise it would not have been very funny at all. So again I was playing with my newest Cricket Cart Rock Princess. LOVE, LOVE it.
i paired it with Celebrate paper pack from CTMH. I think that is what its called. I just love the little headphones and the swirly things to represent music blaring. I used the skull folder for cuttlebug on one card and meant to on the other card but i got ahead of myself and taped the front down before i embossed, so that is two strikes, i did not emboss before taping it down AND i put it on backwards! anywho so to not have it so plan looking I stamped text on it from Background Basics Text from PTI. then added some "stitches" with a writing pen. This was so fun to make. I have already sold them both but wanna make some more soon.

Hi there! Happy Sunday to you!
Ya know when you buy something and you think.... maybe I should wait... just a little longer? Then you think well... fine lets just do it. We did that a couple of weeks ago. We decided to bite the bullet and buy the granite counter tops we have always wanted. Things are looking great, all moving along smoothly. I made the first 1/2 payment 3 days ago, things are still fine... My sister is a manager for GAP and twice a year they have friends and family weekends where we get 30% off. I LOVE shopping on these weekends cause I can go to GAP, Banana Republic and OLD NAVY. So I spent a chunk of change at this fantastic event. Then BAM! Murphy said.. not so fast my friend you are having way too much fun. I get home to hubby telling me the lawn mower has bit the dust after he made a couple of trips to ACE Hardware then Lowes to see if he could fix it himself. If only he had called me when I was out shopping I would have stopped at like $100.00 or so sooner. THEN we get home from church and I am making dinner and the dang over the stove microwave decides it is leaving with the lawn mower. Really?.... two fairly high priced items in one day? I still have the other half of the counter tops to pay! HA what can you do?? I should have known right? Things were going just a wee bit too smooth. Seriously though, I CANNOT complain. Things could certainly be much worse. All of that being said. I did not get any crafty time in this weekend. NONE. I hope to get a little bit this coming week because we plan on starting the dreaded living room painting next weekend.
I have recently gotten to make these silk flowers I found here and OH! they are so fun to make! Grace and I just ran with it and made headbands, hair barrettes and broaches!! FUN, FUN!!

Hidy HO!!!!
How is everyone on this awesome Thursday? The weather has been great here in middle Tennessee the last 2 days. Still a wee bit hot but NOTHING like it has been this summer! Whew! what a great break. So been messing around with my Rock Princess Cartridge. I love that thing and can hardly wait to play with it some more this weekend. We keep putting off painting the living room because the walls are so dang tall. The ceiling is 12 and 18 or 20 foot high and it is that high up the stairway too. So we are just not wanting to take on that kind of project right now. i have to admit it is nice to take a break from all the rehab. This cart has been so much fun too because Grace loves to play with it and we have been having a ball playing together!! love crafty moments with my sweet girl. ooooo.. got side tracked watching hubby come in from outside with great looking fresh tomatoes from the ginormous plants outside. not sure if i am more excited about the good looking tomatoes or the good looking babe bringing them in! anyyyyyy who. Seriously!! How cute is this cricut image? I got the new Rock Princess cart a couple of weeks ago and have been having soooo much fun playing with it. This card is pretty much cased from the guide book that came with the card. I used the example to figure which buttons were for what so I thought I would just go ahead and make the card like the one in the guide too. I just LOVE her and so does my daughter. I see more like these in my future for birthday cards.
My computer was out for a while because lighting struck the computer and tv this past Saturday aarrrgggg! but what is worse is the thunder shook my neighbors house and caused their home alarm to go off WHILE THEY WERE OUT OF TOWN. Come to find out they do not have the alarm set up with a monitoring company soooooo the alarm went off for 12 LOOOOOONG hours! have you ever heard how load a home alarm is? Well, it is VERY loud. From 6 o'clock at night to 6 o'clock in the morning. Thank goodness it was not on a work night. When they got home and found out about it they gave neighbors $50.00 gift cards to Cracker Barrel. WOW $50.00 dang. That was sooo nice! right?

Happy Saturday Morning to you all!!! It is BEA-U-TI-FUL !! Today is grand baby Logan's 2nd birthday. OH MY how time flies. I cannot wait to see him. He has gotten so big and talking so well. I can just eat him up! I wanted to make a special birthday card for his bid day. When I was looking through some of my older Paper Crafts magazines I ran across an article of making this monkey with circle punches. HOW STINKIN' CUTE IS THIS! I used the cricut to cut out circles used some brads for the eyes. Did some distressing round the circle pieces and voila' we have a monkey. This paper pack is from CTMH. I think it is called Star Struck. I thought it fit well with the little boy, monkey, birthday theme. The sentiment and brown paper is PTI Dark Brown.

GOOOOOOOD Monday Evening!!!!

Man what a busy weekend. I had a great weekend the only thing that could have been better is if I were at CHA. I was just in Chicago last month visiting in-laws. I should have timed that visit better! Anyway I did manage to squeeze in a tid bit of paper crafting fun on Sunday. This paper pack is an old kit I had from My Minds Eye. I STILL love the fun colors in it. The little paper flowers are so fun and easy to make. I learned about these from a Scrapbook Memories episode on PBS (locally channel 8). I am going to tray and make 2 cards alike when I have my supplies out. #1 because I usually sell them and #2 I already have everything out so may as well right.

Today was Graces first day of middle school waaaaaaaaaaaa!!! She started riding the bus home this year too so naturally I just HAD to get her a cell phone. She was about to BURST right out of her skin when we told her. We waited until we were leaving for the Verizon store before we told her she was getting one or we never would have heard the end of "when do we get it? when do we get it? when do we get it?" OH! the little flourish is a cut from the Cricut, buttons are MME and the orange one is PTI. Stamp is PTI Birthday Basics. Thanks for visiting!!!!

So one of the downfalls about going a while without crafting is that you lose mojo and creative flow. For inspiration or down right CASEing I go to a lot of the amazingly talented girls of Papertrey Ink. This card was very much cased (with the products i had on hand ) from THIS post by Nichole Heady aka my stamping hero!! The background was stamped with Close to my Heart Spot on Backgrounds with PTI Vintage Cream ink. The Fun Pass stamp is also CTMH Ticket Tags I believe is the name and stamped it in PTI Smokey Shadow. Button and Ribbon PTI Spring Moss. I used the Stampin Up punch for the notebook effect. I would love to chat a bit but i must be getting ready for Bear Camp. which is a type of open house for new students and parents of middle schoolers. WHAT?? middle school already? wasn't she just born yesterday? Sheesh!! Thanks for coming by for the visit today!!

HELLO long lost blogging friends!!!
Sure hope everyone is doing well on this blazing hot Wednesday. Okay, so getting this house together has taken WAAAAYYYY more time than I anticipated or wanted. But... it is looking more like a home. We just finished the kitchen which required one coat of primer AND two coats of paint... ugg.. we did not skimp either we bought the good stuff from Porter Paint!! Oh well it looks great now. we still have the living room to go.. but I am hanging my painters hat up for a while. anywhoo.............. i have gotten in some play time!! here is one of the first cards i have made in a very long time. I already had the poofy flowers made from around Christmas time. I decided to use them up on this 5x7 card. The heart punch is from fiskars. the blue vinyl letters are the paper studio. not sure about the black polka dot paper. and the happy birthday sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. OMG it has been over a month since i have last blogged. I did manage to squeeze in 6 mothers day cards. 3 designs 2 of each. i gave one to mom and sold the others at work. it was soooooo nice to play a little. i did not take a picture to post because they were totally cased!
so friday went out of town to my daughers dance competition in Huntsville Alabama. Our team did excellent!! lots of first place awards. Fun times.
sunday woke up to these delicious and sweet pancakes!! visited my mother in law and then met my sister and mom for dinner. super busy weekend but all was great. today i celebrate my 37th birthday!! DANG time goes by so fast! hubby just called me for dinner so gotta run. thanks for stopping by!

Came home from work today and internet and home phone are in working order!! yeehaa!!!
I am going to spend a couple of mins looking at your blogs then I will have to get back to unloading boxes. We are leaving after work tomorrow for a dance competition in Louisville KY and wont be back until Sunday so no chance to unload boxes, get things in from the garage. I just cant seem to create or cook when boxes are all around. we are have canned Chicken Noodle Soup and grilled cheese for dinner! HA I am ready to be normal again. However it will still be a while yet.

well, we are all moved it. everything is in boxes. we really needed to wait til the carpet gets put in until we moved furniture or whatever around. so everything is piled in the basement, kitchen or dining room or where ever there is hardwood! cleaning has been a MASIVE project. this house has been empty for over 6 months and apparently the previous owners did not take very good care of it. we still do not have the t.v. or internet hooked up!! (i am on the computer at work shhhh... dont tell anyone!) dosnt matter really, we have way too much to do when we get home from work to worry about either! so anyway just wanted to pop in and say i hope to visit you all soon!!! the carpet is supposed to go in today! we will be able to move things around but we have to go out of town this weekend so NO work on the house! arrg. thanks for the visit and well wishes!

IT'S MOVING DAY!!!

OH! The looooonnnnnggggg awaited time is here! We closed on old house and new house last night. Woke up early this am to get the party started. Well.. I had to have some coffee and blog first. But I am ready to rock! Here are a couple of pics of the house. PLEASE keep in mind this is a fixer upper. I am a little frightened to show you most of the pics. The kitchen is HUGE! i have never had a large kitchen. I am very excited about it. My daughter who is 11 years old cannot wait to get an island for the kitchen. Now why in the world she cares about that? I don't know! HA. Check out the double oven!!! WoooHOOO!! I may start cooking again! The front of the house needs lots of work. Monday we start construction for a new driveway and stairs up to the front entry. We are replacing some wood with vinyl and fixing the roof. New carpet also goes in on Monday. We will have to move most everything in the basement until the carpet goes in. Today we start all the cleaning, scrapping, dusting, etc while the heating and air people put in our new heating unit. Hopefully that will get the walls warmed up to start painting tomorrow and Sunday before the carpet goes in on Monday. So LOTS to do. I need to drink up this coffee and get going.

Orange Birthday

Hi guys! How is your Sunday? it is sooooo bright and beautiful here! OH my I loved being outside today it was such a great relief to finally feel the warm sun again. I have been doing my workouts inside through the winter, I felt like a new person and burst of energy that hasnt been around in months! We visited the new house today also, so closing is finally set for this Wednesday. This will be the 3rd time it had been rescheduled so we are keeping our fingers AND toes crossed.
This also means my paper crafting will come to a halt for a little while. It has slowed down dramatically because the scraproom has been filled with boxes and all the extras and I just cannot create with a mess around me. It makes me nervous and I cannot concentrate on anything else. Maybe i have adult ADD or COD or something. anyway. There is so much to do in the new house. We are buying it as a foreclosure so needless to say it was left in a mangled up mess. We have lots of holes to repair EVERY inch of the place has to be painted and some wallpaper to be taken down (yuck). I dont want to use any vacation time at work (gotta safe it for this summer) so I will be working full time and any extra time will be spent cleaning and painting and unpacking etc. I'm sure I can only to that for so long before i have to get my craft on though! HA. Anywho,........ for this card, the stamped image is Fiskars! I got it free when they sent me the free punch a couple of posts ago. The paper is a super old pack from BasicGrey. the cream cardstock is CTMH and the card base is PTI Smokey Grey and the sentiment stamp is also PTI Birthday Basics I believe. The orange ink is Goldrush.
Grace had her first dance competition yesterday. They did so good but it totally wore Grace and myself out! I think we where in bed asleep by 8:30 maybe 9:00. Thanks for your visit today. Hopefully I wont be gone too long.

Hola! How is your Wednesday? Hope life is treating you well. I certainly cannot complain. We had chocolate chip pancakes for dinner tonight! YUMMY! Yes ma'am life is good.
So here is a little card I made. The bottom pink paper is embossed with white embossing powder on Raspberry fizz cardstock (PTI) that I had left over from a project last year. And PTI Damask stamp set. also used PTI Raspberry Fizz Mix and Black Patterned Paper. The large Damask is from the same stamp set as well as the sentiment. Threw on some bling for fun. Hi-Ya. Happy Sunday. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was a FABULOUS weekend here in middle TN. The paper this morning said this is the most snow this area has seen in 7 years! wooohooo. It was so much fun and what was best is that it happened over the weekend. Our neighborhood was full of people sledding, making snowmen etc. Fun, fun stuff. AND that gave me LOTS of time to get CRAFTY!!! I made 9 cards and 4 scrapbook pages. WOOOOHOOO

my last card today was a card for Ashley Newell's Embellish Challenge. We were to use turquoise, brown and pink. awesome, I just HAD to play along. I also made a fun poofy flower I learned from Dawn McVey. They are very addictive once you start. HI Guys!! It is a SUPER snowy day here in the SOUTH! OMG we have not seen snow like this in a very long time. My girl is PUMPED! So this will be quick because we have to eat our cinnamon rolls and then get outside and sled, make snowmen, snowballs, snow angels. FUN stuff.. So this cute little bingo card is a free digital image from Lindsay's stamp stuff at Mygrafico.com
i re sized it to make it a little smaller for a card. Cant wait to use one on a scrapbook page too. The heart i cut out using the Hannah Montana Cricut cart and added some thick glitter. Then used my favorite flourish from the Home Decor cart, oh shoot or is it the Home Accents cart? I love them both! I colored the card with Copic Markers threw on some PTI cardstock and ribbon with some leftover patterned paper. On the bingo card you can barely see it but I stamped a tiny heart onto the number 14 for Valentines Day, when I plan to give this card to my hubs. Okay kids, let me eat my cinnamon roll and drink my coffee. Have an awesome day!!!

Blow Out Your Candles D.I.V.A.S challenge

Hi ya! Happy Sunday. What a wonderfully relaxing day it has been today. I did have to run out in the rain to pick up my daughter from a sleepover but, when we got home my handsome hubs was making breakfast! So we ate then I took a wee nap on the couch! LOVE THAT. Rainy, lazy day and your hubs makes breakfast...perfect! Last night we had a wonderful romantic evening at home, that we don't get often enough I made Beef French Onion Soup in the crock pot that I got from Cursive T. (She has some really simple and delicious meals.) AND we watched a movie together, now THAT does not happen often enough. I don't think I would call the movie romantic but it was wonderful to spend that time together alone. We watch The Hangover! Holy cow I laughed my booty OFF!!
Switching gears, I made this card for my blogging group Designing D.I.V.A.S where we are to uses real or faux stitching. The layout is from a scrapbook page in Scrapbook Trends Magazine. January issue. The pretty patterned paper is from my Secret Sister Cindy it is BasicGrey Euphoria. Thanks girly!!! I also used the Cricut cart Home Decor for the flourish (I know you guys see that a lot on my cards!) the sentiment is from Creative Clear Stamps. Hola Everyone! Happy Wednesday, and a happy Wednesday indeed. I got to leave work a little early today, every once in a while our department gets a "Movie Day" we work a half day then they give us movie tickets and we go see a movie of our choice. Yea! fun stuff right, we also have the option to keep our movie ticket to use some other time and we can choose to go home! that is what I did today. I should have come home and stamped my little heart out but I had some cleaning to do. Why must I always do my chores first?? But that's okay maybe now I will have time this weekend since I don't have to clean!! I am getting down to the last of the Valentines day cards I made a couple of weeks ago. The reds match much better in person but the camera did not capture that. This was a pretty simple not too much going on card. HI there!!! Happy Sunday to you!! Hope you are having a great one. Sorry that is has been a minute since I posted last. I have been pouting the last few days and havent felt very crafty. I got braces on Thursday which was also my daughter birthday. So we have been busy with birthday stuff and feeling sorry for myself! HA man, my mouth hurts! But actually today I THINK I am showing signs that it will get better soon! Anyway, I made yet another Valentine card. This layout was inspired by a card Dawn McVey did but I did everything else different. I used some more of those Reminisce stickers and my handy dandy Cricut to cut out the scallop circles. So lately I have been REALLY liking what I am seeing/hearing with the Sure Cuts A Lot. Do any of you have one? If so please let me know what you think of it. I am trying to put myself on a buying freeze for a while but I may let myself get this if it is worth it. Alrighty then, I am ready to curl up in a warm blanket on the sofa with my book. Hola!! how is everyone? Life is good here. We just got back from dinner from one of our favorite pizza places, Painturo's. yummmmmmy. We were celebrating my daughters straight A report card! wooohoooo!!! SO proud of her! Well, this little card is pretty simple. I used some more of those stickers from Reminisce called Flirt. punched out some hearts from CM heart punches.
still using that Cosmo Cricket paper and my still favorite Label One die from Spellbinder. Then stamped the outline with PTI Vintage Labels stamp set. Like I said, easy peasy. Okay I need to run, I have been working overtime to make up some hours when I leave early on Thursday to get my braces on! ACK! Am I pitifully wimpy if I say I am nervous? Well, I am!

Hi Everyone!! Happy Beautiful Sunday. It is a cold one here. but not as bad as it has been and the sunlight feels sooooooooooo good! We just got back from lunch with my daughter in law celebrating her 26th birthday. We went to Cock of the Walk had some yummy catfish!!! i LOVE fried catfish however...I have spacers on my teeth getting them ready for braces on Thursday. O.M.G. my mouth HURTS I could barely chew. It has been like this for about 3 days now. I cannot imagine how big of a baby I will be when I actually get the braces on! I tell you what though. I have already lost a couple of pounds! Helloooooo! Happy Thursday! wooohooo weekend ...i can almost taste you!! Hope all is well, I know I am extremely happy to be safe and sound at home. Nashville got our first snow this year. it was really built up all over the news that we were going to get a whopping 2 inches and i think we ended up with MAYBE a 1/4 inch BUT it was slicker than i dont know what. The roads froze pretty quickly and on my way home from work today my car slid and did a donut!! HA thank goodness I did not hit anyone or anything. there were a couple of cars around but thankfully they did not get in my way. I thought FOR SURE I was going to get one of them. The good Lord was with me I guess. Scared the pee out of me though...(almost! LOL)
Okay so for todays card. I copied another layout and I dont know if i copied another one from Melissa Phillips or not, it could have been cased from Card Trends Magazine. SO SORRY. For a few of the up coming Valentines day cards I used stickers from Reminisce called Flirt. Got them half off at my LSS. This one I used the sticker Big Flirt. Made a background design (on top of the Spellbinders Label 4) with my super duper Cricut cart Home Accents then made a swirly with Cricut Home Decor. I dont know who makes the tree branch looking paper, it was some scraps I had. The red heart paper is Cosmo Cricket. Then added some tiny CTMH paper flowers and some tiny pearls from The Paper Studio. Okay kiddos, I am going to go relax in a really hot bathtub and read a scrappy mag. Have an awesome night!

Hidyho crafty friends! Hope you are having a great Tuesday night! I am sitting here eating chocolate covered espresso beans!!! Yuuuummmmmy! I hope they dont keep me awake tonight.
Things are still aggravating but moving right along with the house buying situation. Getting all the inspections and what not. Man, buying a home takes FOR-EV-ER! Maybe that is why I havent done it in 11 years! LOL Anywho, on with the card. I totally cased this card from my favorite vintage guru Melissa Phillips. Man that girl is good. I made the chipboard heart from a Cricut Cart! whooo! I ran it thru the Cricut about 3 times. still had to cut a little bit with the scissors though, but it did well. Colored the heart by swiping the ink pad on it then covered in glitter.

Hiya Folks!!!!
Its almost New Years!! Good Times! Anyone have big plans? I believe we are just gonna chill out at the house. We were invited to what I think will be a really kewl casino style black tie party but hubs just dosnt want to rent a tux, party pooper!. Its okay really, I will have to work all day anyway. Well go to it next year. Since we have been so busy with house stuff it will be nice to just chill, I may just get a little crazy and break out some craftyness!!! OOOO that really sounds like a great new year to me! Here is another layout I did at my scrap weekend back in November. This is my handsome hubs with our grandbaby Logan. Jim is called Big D. His father is Big Daddy so he could not have that, he wanted it but I would not let him. So he is stuck with just Big D. HA! I know the paisley paper and the polka dot paper is SEI i got at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago for like .10 cents each! The background paper is Hambly. Wow! so Christmas came and went! Whew is anyone else worn out? Fun stuff though. Here is one of the necklace and earring sets I made for a gift. I love chunky jewelry. Oh! on the home front. Our offer WAS accepted on our 2nd choice house. We are THRILLED!
We really got a GREAT deal/steal on a wonderful house in a fantastic neighborhood and still in Mount Juliet and same school system my daughter is in now. There is a lot of work that needs to be done on it, that is one reason we got such a great deal but we are fired up and ready!
So life and God are definitely good!
One thing that makes it even sweeter is that our first choice house, we just found out, is not accepting any offers under X dollar amount so there is no way we would have been able to get this house. It also needs renovation and we just cannot justify spending X amount plus all of the extra for renovations. We are looking at the end of January before we close on our house now and the one we are buying. But we will be really busy in that time with appraisals, last minute fixes on the house we are selling and all of that jazz. I hope to have a minute or two of crafty time. Thanks for listening!

Good Sunday afternoon people!
Hope your day is going great so far. Mine is pretty terrific. The Titans are winning so this always makes for a good Sunday in our house. My Christmas gifts are ALMOST complete. I am ready!
We *should* find out about one of the houses we are looking at. So yes, life is good.
I have a friend at work that asked me at the last minute to make a scrapbook page for his girlfriend that he can give to her on Christmas. It needs to include something about mommy and babies and pink. This page will be about her two beloved puppies. I think it turned out pretty well. I used a layout as a guide from Scrapbook Trends Magazine which made the page come together "fairly" quickly. He will probably get a scrapbook frame to put this in then give it to her. AAWWWWW what a sweet boyfriend huh?!
This paper kit uses CTMH Amore. The bracket page is Jenni Bowlin that I used as the brown frame then traced and cut out the patterned paper from the CTMH kit. It was soooo much fun to get a little scrappy this weekend even though I dont get to keep the resulting product. I can always reproduce for myself right! The flourishes were created from the Cricut Carts Home Decor and Home Accents LOVE those two carts! Oh, and the letters were cut using Hannah Montana cart. Alright, back to some jewelry making. Hello and happy Tuesday! Hope all is well. I have a super simple card for you tonight. Still having fun with the Graphic 45 die cut sheet. Went to a used music store and bought a book of sheet music..yea!!!! The glitter paper is some I picked up at Hobby Lobby and the satin ribbon is PTI Ripe Avocado. Punched out 3 little snowflakes with the Martha Stewart snowflake punch. Added that onto the card then raised the image on pop dots. Left it at that. Thanks for your visit. Good Sunday morning everyone!!!
I hope your day is starting out great. I actually had a little bit of time to craft yesterday but, I totally needed to rest. I have not slowed down in...well, I don't know how long. So I did some housework and then sat my big hiney down and relaxed. It was nice.
I made this card weeks ago and just realized I have not shared it yet. I made the stripes with tiny slivers of cardstock. I love the look it gave. The little paper edge on the end was not supposed to be there but I kept messing with the ribbon and got it all out of wack so I had to cover it up. My stash had just the ticket for that. That fun pattern was stamped from two images from Vintage Labels. Add some ribbon and a button and viola! Its a card!

ARRRGGGG!
so, good thing, we have accepted an offer on our house that did not get listed yet! Bad news the offer we put on a house did not get accepted! Where are we going to go? HA! obviously we may have to rent for a minute or two. We are very specific in what we are looking for and very constricted to an area because of the school system we want to stay in. The very first house we put on offer on is not out of the picture yet, just taking a looooong time because it is in a short sale. So still hoping for that option. We just did not expect our house to sell so quickly.

Anyway....here is a happy Christmas card. I used some more of that fun Vintage Christmas Past from Graphic 45 again! Been having so much fun with that. The sentiment is PTI Silent Night and the patterned paper is ....well, i don't know. I won some pieces in a blog candy! Outlined the die cut with Stickles. Goodness, it has been a minute since I posted last. I hope you are well on this frosty Sunday Morning! Things are good in the Smith household. We are still waiting to hear about the short sale house but we found another house that we really liked. It too, needs some renovations but because of that it is a good deal. We are in the processes of going back and forth with negotiations. And I guess some good news with that is, our house is not even officially on the market and it may already be sold!! How crazy is that? I know its good to have a buyer but we really are not in a hurry! We are blessed, I know that much.
Anyway.....I got together with my girlfriends Friday night for our "Girls Christmas" and got to actually make some cards! First time in 3 weeks plus that I had made a card. It was soooo nice.

St Patricks Day

Yes, I am doing it. I am showing my never get out any more side. I got to go out for St Patricks Day this year. It was on a week night, took the train into town and had a ride home so I let my hair down and got a little silly and IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! So here is a lay out of the crazy evening with some friends. I will probably have a few more scrap pages to share but I WILL have some cards to share before too long. Me and my 5 high school friends are having our girls Christmas this Friday night and we will eat, drink, play Christmas music, exchange gifts and make our Christmas cards. I have already started to pack a few things as I have some ideas in my head. I need to write those down! otherwise these wonderful ideas will be gone! crazy how I can barely remember things anymore. I did not get ANY crafting time in these 4 days off! We had 3 Thanksgiving dinners to attend and we babysat the grandbaby Friday and Saturday. Which was great I haven't seen him in about 2 months!
I don't remember who made the paper. I got it on clearance at my LSS. The letters were cut out using one of the fonts on the Hannah Montana Cricut cart. Happy Black Friday to some of you CRAZY shoppers! Not me boy. Online shopping all the way!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and or friends. Ours was just perfect and we have two more to go! Today at my in-laws and Sunday at my daddy's. Goodness gracious you will have to roll me through the door to work on Monday! LOL

I used the Cricut Home Accents for the swirly image on the side. The paper is from a Fiskars package I won a while back. It is more wintery themed but obviously dosnt have to be winter.
I stamped with Damask Designs from PTI (swooon!!) The cardstock is old stuff I have had in my stash probably since the begining of this fabulous hobby of mine. The play stamp I borrowed from my great friend Tina so I do not remember the maker. The little fleur-de-lis is chipboard by American Crafts. I decided to leave it plain white. Hidy HO!!!!

Hows your day going? I worked 11 hours today trying to make up for some time that I will be off for Thanksgiving. I was planning on working over tomorrow too but...we have 3 houses to check out. We still have not heard about our short sale offer yet. It has been 3 weeks now so maybe within another month. But just in case we are not chosen then we are going to keep looking.

SOOOOOOO, here is one of the pages I did while on my super fun scrappy weekend getaway.

I need another get away to have some time to make cards. I MISS playing in my craft room. Everything is still there, not packed away, I just haven't had time.

I love watching Grace dance. I love it because she loves it, it makes her so happy you can just see it on her face. I am not really big on the Lyrical dances but she (and the other girls) was so graceful and beautiful during this dance this past competition season! Whoa! almost a week with no post. Dang I have been a busy girl. Had an absolute BLAST at my scrappy weekend those girls are so much fun. Then come home and had to start working on some orders for burpie cloths. Still workin on those. Hopefully I can slow down just a bit soon but it really seems that it will be after Christmas before that happens! So, I made this card a couple of weeks ago. A friend told me it seems Twilightish to them...humm???? The image is one of my favs from CTMH. Cut out a little frame from the cricut. Still LOVIN' my Cricut! Vintage Happy Christmas

Well, Hello! How are you? My, my the time sure has flown by lately. We have been extremely busy getting our house ready to put on the market. AND I am getting ready to go on a scrapbooking retreat to Center Hill Lake bright and early Friday morning!! YEA ME!

Here is the other vintage Christmas card I made last week. Used some more of the super fantastic Graphic 45 punch outs. I decided to go for glitter again. This time I ran the two way
glue pen around the edge of the tag and dipped it into some CTMH red glitter. OH it is so pretty.
and broke out some more of the vintage sheet music!! The patterned paper is Basic Grey. The ribbon and button is PTI. I ran a simple stitch with the sewing machine around the edge. The "snowflake" is a flower image from the Cricut Home Decor cartridge. Then I glued that whole die and covered it in Dazzling Diamond glitter from Stampin' UP! I got the basic layout idea from a card by Melissa Phillips in the Cards Magazine.

Happy Sunday Night!

Hope all is well, it has been a busy, busy weekend. NO crafty time except just a wee bit at Gina's crafty night at church. THANKS GINA! So here is one of the Vintage Christmas cards I worked on last week. I love how it turned out. If I may say so. I am in love with vintage sheet music at the moment. I ordered some from Amazon.com and need more already. The lace just happend to be in my sewing box! (yea!). The die cut paper edge is from Little Yellow Bicycle. The little Dec 25 punch out is Graphic 45. Then i stickled the edge of it for some fun glittery effect. Cardstock and ribbon is my favorite PTI. So that is it for now.
